Apprenticeship award winners

Education is the lifeblood of Eastern Multi-Academy Trust with 14 Academies across the Primary and Secondary phases. However, its commitment to education does not stop with the pupils.

On Wednesday 7 March 2018. two members of staff won prestigious Apprentice of the Year Awards at the College of West Anglia. Out of 1100 apprentices and 18 award categories, the Trust was pleased and proud to have winners in two of those categories.

Jessica Green, from Eastgate Academy, won the Supporting Teaching and Learning Apprentice of the Year. Jess joined Eastgate in September 2016 and has just completed her intermediate apprenticeship. Over the course of the apprenticeship, Jess’s confidence grew and she made a positive impact on the students supporting them and the school to achieve its highest score in phonics in the national tests.

Linda Hothersall, Principal of Eastgate Academy said: ”The award that Jess has received is very well deserved. She has become an invaluable member of the Eastgate family and has impressed us all with her hard work and maturity beyond her years.”

Rebecca Satchell of the Eastern Multi-Academy Trust central HR Department won Business Administration Apprentice of the Year. She started work at the Trust in January 2017 as an apprentice after being out of administrative work for over 5 years. She was incredibly keen to gain the qualification and has worked hard to keep momentum going.

“We could see the raw material in Becky and since she joined us she has rewarded our confidence in her many times over. She is a valued and valuable member of the team.” said Rosy Lord, Head of HR at the Trust.

Both Jess and Becky have permanent contracts now at the Trust and they now go forward with the possibility of winning CWA Student of the Year.

Eastern Multi-Academy Trust is a keen supporter of developing its staff and currently has 5 staff on apprenticeships. This is likely to grow as apprenticeships are a key part of the Trust’s training programme for upskilling existing staff and for bringing in new staff.
