Trade Union Facilities Time Report 2018/19

Under the Trade Union (Facility Time Publication Requirements) Regulations 2017, which came into force on 1 April 2017, there is a requirement to report, annually, the facility time given to staff who are also union officials to carry out their duties.

This is required to be published for the period of 1 April to 31 March by 31 July – delayed to August in 2019.

EMAT Facilities Time arrangements

The Trust does not have any employed staff who are relevant union officials under these regulations.
The Trust does recognise the following trade unions:

  • NASUWT
  • NUT
  • ATL
  • ASCL
  • NAHT
  • Unison
  • GMB

However, the Trust subscribes to the Norfolk and Suffolk County Council facilities agreements
respectively whereby we “buy” the time of trade union officials who are employed elsewhere in the
County. This occurs mainly for union officials for teaching staff and leadership.

For support staff, trade union support is gained from the regional employed officials for those unions where required.

At Trust level there is a meeting with the recognised unions 4 times per annum. This meeting is with
the paid officials of the support unions and those trade union officials whose time is paid for by our
subscription to the County Facility Time agreement.
