Our Executive Team

Deborah Rapkins

Interim Director of People

I am excited to join the Eastern Multi Academy Trust as the Interim Director of People.  My passion for continuous improvement, learning and personal growth aligns perfectly with this opportunity.

As a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD) with over 20 years' experience as an HR function leader and executive director, I bring a wealth of expertise to this role. My focus lies in developing organisational and talent-related solutions across various sectors, including commercial/corporate and Not-For-Profit.

In my previous role as Director of People and Culture at Woodgreen Pet Charity, I successfully balanced organisational goals with people-centric strategies, optimising HR practices, managing talent pool and leading transformational change and organisational development programmes.

In my new role, I am excited to collaborate closely with our Executive and People teams to strengthen our people-first approach.  Together we will enhance the employee experience, streamline policies and processes, and develop our Trusts' capability to inspire our students to be the absolute best that they can be.

Known for my pragmatic and commercial HR approach, I am characterised by my “big picture” perspective.  I am deeply passionate about connecting people to organisation purpose and driving exceptional opportunities for our students. My strategic interest therefore naturally extends beyond the sphere of HR, focusing on developing solutions that support the broader Trust agenda.

Outside of work, I am a new trustee for Instructus Group, where I contribute to helping individuals progress in education, in work and in life through a range of funded and part-funded support programmes. You may also find me on Snettisham beach collaborating with the RSPB to recruit volunteers to protect plovers in peril or exploring the Fens with my working cocker spaniels.  I am an avid reader and always eager to dive into a good book.
